Dimboola: shameless self promotion

April 21, 2010

If you follow me on Twitter you might have picked up on the fact that I’m currently acting in a play for an amateur theatre company.

The play is Dimboola, Jack Hibberd’s classic Australian comedy, which follows Protestant Morrie McAdam and Catholic Maureen Delaney at their wedding reception in the small Aussie country town of Dimboola.

The wedding is attended by family members from both the McAdams and Delaneys, as is also hijacked by a couple of local drunks, Mutton and Bayonet.

The play is set before the days of political correctness and so it can be deemed at times as being very rude and cheeky! I’m sure at times the audience will be muttering ‘I can’t believe he just said that!’. But the play is very funny and sure to be a great night out.

I play the role of the blushing bride, Maureen.
Reen, as she is affectionately known, has been looking forward to her big day and she holds out hope for a wonderful, memorable wedding.
She is therefore horrified to witness her dreams crash, and then burn.

For those wishing to celebrate the glorious union, under God, of Morrie and Maureen, you are invited to attend the wedding reception:

Where: The Castle, Hemmings Park, Princes Hwy, Dandenong 3175
When: Friday 14 May, Saturday 15 May, Thursday 20 May, Friday 21 May or Saturday 22 May
Time: Doors open at 7pm, show to commence at 7.30pm

RSVP: Please call 9771 6666 (The Drum booking line) to book your tickets
