The Renovated Block from Season 2

The Renovated Block from Season 2

Remember Channel 9’s ‘The Block’ hosted by ex-Manpower stripper Jamie Durie? Well it’s back.

The original series went for two seasons from 2003-2004 and was set in the Sydney beachside suburbs of Bondi (Season 1) and Manly (Season 2). The first season was a huge success, with the first season being the highest rating Australian series of all time. The second series however failed to live up to expectations and the show was axed.

Channel 9 announced today that the popular renovation show has been revived for 2010.

But Jamie Durie won’t be round this time to host it. So who’s the new kid on the block? None other than Scott Cam, the lovable chippie who appeared with Durie on Backyard Blitz and has also been on Channel 9 programs such as Renovation Rescue and Domestic Blitz.

The new show will give 4 couples (which is sure to include a token gay couple as usual) the opportunity to renovate an apartment in the same block over just 8 weeks and then sell at auction. Previously contestants have been able to keep whatever money is raised above the reserve and the winning couple receive a large bonus on top of that.

If you’re interested in auditioning to be on the program then you can email apply@mcgregorcasting.com for more information.
